FAQS

HOW MUCH SPACE DO YOUR MARQUEES REQUIRE?

Our marquees require additional space to accommodate the guy ropes/stakes.
Our 9m x 9m marquees = space of at least 12m x 12m
Our 15m x 9m marquees = space of at least 18m x 12m
Our 21m x 9m marquees = space of at least 24m x 9m
Our catering / bar tents can be positioned accordingly.

CAN YOUR MARQUEES BE ERECTED ON ANY SURFACE?

Our marquees are only suitable for use on lawns/fields/grassy areas. They can not be erected on hard surfaces such as patios, paths or driveways.

We can cope with slopes however to help decide if your garden is suitable we would recommend placing a table and some chairs on the grass and seeing how comfortable it is sat on the chair. Also fill a glass with water as this is a good guide. We can advise you further at the free, no obligation site visit.

ARE YOUR MARQUEES WEATHERPROOF?

Our marquee fabric is 100% waterproof using the latest fabrics. They are also wind tested.

Maximum allowable wind speed is:
• 31 m/s (70 mph), 3 sec gust – when side walls are installed
• 16 m/s (36 mph), 3 sec gust – when installed without (or partial) side walls
Marquee must be anchored in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and is subject to ground conditions.

We also use a waterproof membrane under our matting when the ground conditions are wet. This prevents any moisture being absorbed by the matting flooring.

WHEN WILL YOU SET UP THE MARQUEE?

As an example our usual set up days are Wednesday or Thursday for a Saturday event leaving you plenty of time to dress and enjoy the marquee, although if you need it set up earlier we can be flexible.
Breakdown can be Sunday or Monday ... again we are flexible!

TABLE DESIGN AND WILL YOU SET UP ALL THE FURNITURE INSIDE THE MARQUEE?

We will ensure all the furniture you have booked is placed inside the marquee.

If timings allow we will be able to help to arrange it as per your specifications.

For table sizing it really depends on the type of function and whether they are to be used for eating at catered events or more informal gatherings.
Please us the following as a guide:
· 4′ Round – 4 to 6 guests
· 5′ Round – 8 to 10 guests
· 6′ Round – 10 to 12 guests
· 6′ Trestle – 6 (3 guests each side)

DOES THE PROCESS OF ERECTING THE MARQUEES CAUSE ANY DAMAGE TO LAWNS?

We ask for grass to cut to a reasonable standard a few days before we erect the marquee. Grass that has been covered for several days could discolour but recovery will be swift. We drive iron stakes into the ground to secure the ropes, we take as much care as possible not to cause any untoward damage.

CAN WE USE NAKED FLAMES IE: TEA LIGHTS/CANDLES INSIDE YOUR MARQUEES?

Our fabrics are fire retardant but due to fire safety regulations, all naked flames need to be safely contained within tall lanterns/containers.

WHAT ABOUT POWER FOR THE MARQUEE?

Marquee lighting, heating and music do not require much power and therefore don’t normally call for a generator.

Generally for power it is best to run extension cables from the house in a safe and secure manner, if your requirements exceed what is possible we either recommend a generator or a qualified electrician to wire into your fuse board. In our experience catering requirements have the biggest demand on supply.

We do ask that you (the hirer) are responsible for providing safe and suitable power source and cabling, as required for your event.

If needed generators supply constant and reliable power, rather than relying on supply from household mains.

DO I NEED MATTING?

It really depends on your type of event. For weddings, we suggest you opt for  our Dura Dandy matting as it looks much better – also high heels on grass can be awkward. If you are having a dance floor, you must have matting. For our catering tents, we suggest you do not have matting, unless your caterers require it then we will include this FOC.

DO I NEED A HEATER?

As we are in the UK we always suggest getting a heater, even in the summer months as sometimes the evenings can get quite chilly. For the colder months if you’re hiring our largest marquee size we suggest getting two heaters.

ACCESS

Depending on the size of your event we might need the site must have good access for up to a 7.5 tonne vehicle to be able to get within 20 metres of the set up location.

We ask for access to be clear including any overhanging branches or trees to be cut back by the hirer in advance.

WHAT ARE YOUR PAYMENT METHODS?

A 25% deposit is required to secure your required hire. This deposit secures your hire with us and is used to cover any damages or loss during the hire. The deposit is in addition to the charge total. The final charge total is required no later than 1 month before your event. The deposit is 100% refunded within 3 days after your event, if no damages or loss have occurred.
